A 34-year-old man in Florida refused to take no for an answer, taking $1 from a woman's purse Monday after she refused to give him money, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies say a 20-year-old woman was leaving the Target store in Greenacres at about 1:30 p.m. Monday when Scott Simzer approached her in the parking lot and asked for money.

When the woman told Simzer that she didn’t have money to give, he allegedly grabbed for her purse, reached inside and took a $1 bill before running away, according to a sheriff’s arrest report made public Tuesday.

He was apprehended about 30 minutes later after the woman showed deputies a picture she took of Simzer on her iPhone while chasing after him, the sheriff’s office said. Simzer was arrested on a robbery charge and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. He remained in custody Tuesday after a judge set his bail amount at $10,000.

Jail records do not list a current address for Simzer.

The alleged victim told deputies she was putting groceries in her car when Simzer approached her.

Following his arrest, Simzer acknowledged talking to the woman, but denied taking anything from her, the sheriff’s office said. He reportedly told deputies he went to the location to try to either get money for a room or find someone who could give him work.

When a deputy asked for a DNA sample, Simzer invoked his right to an attorney, the sheriff’s office said.
