A North Georgia man is in jail after his 2-month-old son was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, the GBI said.

Joel Maggi, 22, of Chatsworth, has been charged with cruelty to children, according to the GBI.

The baby was taken unresponsive to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga with “unexplained” injuries, GBI spokesman Joe Montgomery said.

The GBI and the Murray County Sheriff’s Office arrested Maggi on Monday without incident.

The agencies will continue their investigation and turn over the results to the district attorney’s office.
