A Kennesaw city employee was fired after pretending to be an officer and threatening two Subway restaurant employees for charging for extra cheese on his sub, authorities said.
Eric McMillian, the city’s former business license specialist, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly making terroristic threats and impersonating an officer at the Subway at 2774 Cobb Parkway, police told Channel 2 Action News.
After employees tried to charge him for extra cheese, he said, “I’m gonna bust a cap in your (expletive). Let’s go outside right now,” according to the arrest warrant obtained by the news station.
McMillian also allegedly said, “Hey (expletive), I’m a cop. I’m going to arrest you.”
AJC.com called the restaurant, and an employee said it costs an extra 80 cents to add cheese to a footlong sandwich.
Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling told Channel 2 he was shocked when he found out.
“‘Are you kidding me?’ was the first thing that popped up in my mind,” Easterling said.
Easterling said McMillian had been a great employee since he started his job in March, but he wouldn’t tolerate this behavior and fired him Tuesday before he was arrested, Channel 2 reported. His probationary period was scheduled to end next month.
“He misrepresented his position,” Easterling said. “He misrepresented who he is as a person. That bothers me at a different level — not just as mayor, but as a citizen.”
McMillian didn’t respond to the news station’s request for comment, and the Subway franchise owner and employees would not comment on the incident.
