A gunman at a South Carolina nightclub was stopped after a man with a concealed weapons permit shot him, WLOS reported.

Jody Ray Thompson, 32, got into an argument at Playoffz Night Club in Lyman before firing several rounds toward the crowd, hitting three people, Spartanburg County deputies said.

The victims' injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

A fourth person who was nearly hit pulled out his own gun and shot Thompson in the leg. The man had a valid concealed weapons permit and is not facing charges.

Thompson, of Lyman, was charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count each of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to records from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

He was arrested on June 26 and remained jailed Friday.
