A 27-year-old man will spend the next 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of child molestation involving a 12-year-old, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Nicholas Brian Odell was arrested in 2015 on aggravated child molestation and other charges in connection with incidents that occurred in 2013. At the time of the crimes, Odell was 22 years old.
On June 8, just before his trial got underway, Odell agreed to a deal that reduced the charges in exchange for a guilty plea, according to the sheriff’s office.
Superior Court Judge Dean Bucci sentenced him to 30 years. However, Odell will have to serve only 15 years in a state prison, the sheriff’s office said.
Once he is released, he must register as a sex offender.
