Investigators said they arrested a man Thursday who broke into an apartment near the University of Central Florida on Monday and touched a woman while she slept.
Taylor Morrell was arrested Thursday morning, authorities said. Morrell is being held at the Orange County Jail without bail.
Four women were sleeping inside their apartment at the time of the break-in, deputies said.
They said the man caressed the arm of one of the women while she was asleep, startled another when he went into her room, and then went through the refrigerator before slipping out.
The women told deputies they alerted the security guard who said he would keep a look out for the man and reportedly advised the victims not to call the police.
A short time later, the security guard asked one of the victims to identify a man that was found sitting on a bench at the apartment complex.
Based on the man’s clothing and stature, she believed it was the same man.
The victims told the security guard they didn’t give anyone permission to come inside the apartment and would like to press charges.
The victims said they were told by the security guard that the situation would be handled.
After telling their parents about the ordeal, the victims reported it to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies investigating the incident have been unable to contact anyone with the security company, Signal88Security, about what happened.
When WFTV spoke with the guards from the company, they said, "No comments. No comments, please head off the property."
The handling of the incident has some residents concerned.
“I live with two other girls too so it could happen to us. If there weren’t guys with us, we could be at risk,” said resident Casey Stanulewich.
Deputies released a picture of the man, who was seen on surveillance video leaving the apartment complex.
