Gwinnett police are seeking a man who they say raped in Duluth an 18-year-old woman who had the mental capacity of a 10-year-old.
The suspect, Jamaal Lamont Cooke, 22, later fled from police when they made contact with him at the same apartment complex where the rape took place, according to a media release.
The incident took place April 23, when the victim visited a friend at the Paramount Apartments in the 4200 block of Pleasant Lake Village, police said. Cooke also was at the apartment. The incident took place when the victim’s friend left the apartment, police said.
On April 25, Cooke resisted arrest and fled on foot, police said.
Police say Cooke is known to frequent the area, and has an extensive criminal history in Gwinnett and other areas of metro Atlanta. He has no vehicle.
The suspect is wanted on charges of rape, aggravated sodomy, and felony obstruction.
