DeKalb jail employee arrested, accused of sexually assaulting 2 inmates

A DeKalb County jail employee was arrested Wednesday and accused of sexually assaulting two female inmates.

Martin Moten, a 59-year-old Loganville resident, is being held without bond in the same jail where he had worked since 2004.

The two inmates accused Moten of having sexual contact with them between March and June of this year, a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office news release said.

After the accusations were reviewed, Moten was fired and arrested, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

“We have zero tolerance for any employee who engages in criminal behavior,” Sheriff Jeffrey L. Mann said in the release. “Sexual assault against anyone is egregious, and it is especially disturbing when committed against individuals who trust us with their safety and security while in custody.”

Moten is charged with two counts of sexual assault against a person in custody and two counts of violation of oath of office.
