Two men shot Monday near a DeKalb County gas station were stopped at a red light when someone in a white SUV pulled alongside them and opened fire, police said Tuesday.

Darius Davenport, the 32-year-old driver, was killed in the shooting, and a 22-year-old passenger was struck and critically injured, DeKalb police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said.

The passenger was in serious but stable condition Tuesday morning.

The men, along with another passenger, were returning from a club about 2:30 a.m. in a black Ford Mustang when the shooting happened near a Citgo gas station in the 3000 block of Moreland Avenue.

Davenport and the passenger were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where Davenport was later pronounced dead.
