Jose Salinas was caught smoking marijuana on the job, so his boss fired him.
It was Salinas’ first and last day at a construction site run by David Garcia, Channel 2 Action News reported. But it wouldn’t be the last time the two saw each other.
Days later, Cobb County police said Salinas and two other men broke into Garcia’s Marietta home and robbed him at gunpoint — an act done purely for revenge, Garcia said.
“He put me on the ground, put his feet on my back, pointed the gun right at the back of my head and said, ‘Do not move. If you move, I will kill you,’” Garcia told Channel 2 through a translator.
Salinas and the two men are accused of making off with $2,000 — money that Garcia said he owed to his employees. The trio also allegedly robbed Garcia’s roommate.
“In the back of my mind, I thought he was going to kill us,” Garcia said. “After he put his foot in the back of my head, he said if we call the police they will come back and kill (us).”
Salinas is still on the run, according to Channel 2. Garcia identified him to police but was unable to give a description of the other two men — one was wearing a ski mask and there are no pictures or paper trail connecting them to the crime.
Garcia said he is fortunate to be alive to tell his story.
“The money is nothing,” he said. “My life is more important. If they’ve done that to someone else, things will get back to them. God is watching everything.”
