A former substitute teacher and track coach at two Athens high schools was arrested on child molestation charges, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

Athens-Clarke County police said the allegations against Michael Henry Scott, 29, were brought to them last week. Scott is reportedly a “lay coach” which means he was only “employed for coaching responsibilities and not a teacher or other type of staff member,” the newspaper reported.

Police did not say if the student was an athlete.

School officials said Scott no longer works for the Clarke County School District and notified parents of the arrest and allegations.

In addition to the molestation charge, Scott faces enticing a minor for indecent purposes and permitting a minor to engage in or assist in sexual explicit conduct for visual medium, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

Scott was accused of sexually assaulting a child in 2007, but the parent did not want to pursue charges, the paper reported. Similar accusations were handled by the school district in 2015.
