Cobb County police have identified and are searching for the person who stabbed two people, injuring one seriously, at an apartment complex in Smyrna, Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday.

The incident happened at the Villas of South Cobb on Old Concord Road, the news station reported.

The attacker, who police said was doing some work for the victims, got out of a car at the complex, exchanged words with the driver, then stabbed him around the head and neck area, the station reported. A woman in the car also was stabbed.

The attacker used a small knife or box cutter, police said, and left the scene.

An arrest warrant was secured for the attacker, police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said Thursday. The identity has not been released.

The man who was seriously hurt was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Channel 2 reported. No identities were released.

Officers searched with a police dog but did not find the attacker.

“It did appear as if the suspect and the victims knew one another,” Chilton said Wednesday, “so we're not concerned about some sort of public threat at this time.”
