Two people have been arrested in an ongoing investigation into misappropriation of public funds,  Athens-Clarke County police said.

Public Utilities Plant Supervisor Jamison Goolsby and Bobby Wright of Wright & Wright Janitorial Supply Inc. were charged with felony theft by deception, spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said Wednesday.

Goolsby created false purchase orders for payment to

Wright, who  would cash and/or deposit the checks into his

personal bank accounts and split the money with Goolsby, according to police.

The arrests came after police searched two residences.

The GBI has been asked to assist in the investigation.
