Police were searching for the shooter of a Kennesaw teenager Thursday afternoon.

The 16-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen inside a home on Clairesbrook Lane in the Brookwood Commons subdivision, Kennesaw police Sgt. Brice Barth said.

Nearby Baker Elementary School locked down the campus briefly, but the lockdown was lifted in time for student dismissal.

Though the boy was able to talk to police, he told several different versions of what happened and officers were still sorting through the details about 4 p.m. when they left the scene of the shooting, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The shooter has not been identified or caught.

“There is no danger to the public at this time,” Barth said.

The teen was immediately taken to a local hospital, Barth said. His condition is unknown at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kennesaw Police Department at 770-422-2505.
