A woman who police said was kidnapped by her boyfriend from a southwest Atlanta apartment early Saturday is OK — and denying that she was taken against her will, authorities said.

Officers were called to the Brentwood Creek apartments about 5 a.m. after someone reported a dispute involving a weapon, Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. John Chafee said.

Police said a group of friends had just returned home when Markus Leach forced his way inside, grabbed 26-year-old Camecke Strozier and placed her into a car.

Others tried to confront Leach, 27, who allegedly produced a handgun, police said. Chafee said the two are in a relationship and have children together.

Leach and Strozier were seen driving away in a black Nissan sedan, and police across the state were instructed to look out for the vehicle, Chafee said.

But Strozier walked into the Zone 4 precinct Saturday afternoon and denied being kidnapped, police said. Investigators are speaking with her to determine what occurred, but no charges have been filed against Leach, whose whereabouts are unknown.

Police said they would also like to speak with him about the incident.
