A former Atlanta police officer will spend 90 days in jail after a jury convicted him of criminal trespass in Henry County, authorities said.

Phillip Barresi was convicted of kicking in his ex-fiancée’s door at her Locust Grove home, Henry County District Attorney spokeswoman Megan Matteucci said.

He was found not guilty of home invasion and criminal damage to property.

He was wearing his uniform and had his hand on his pistol during the Nov. 28, 2016, incident, witnesses testified.

Barresi was sentenced to a year in prison with only 90 days to serve. He must also pay a $500 fine and have no contact with the victim or witnesses.

Barresi joined the police department in March 2016. He resigned in May of this year.
