Atlanta cops hope video, $35K reward help solve home invasion death

Atlanta police released a second video Friday in hopes of solving a home invasion in which a 51-year-old man leaped to his death.

Meanwhile, police are hoping a distinctive hat — along with the initial video of the alleged criminals and a reward increase from $25,000 to $35,000 — will help find whoever is responsible for the death of Jose Greer, an executive sales manager at Comcast, who died fleeing home invaders in the West End on Tuesday.

Greer died in surgery after he jumped off his balcony and landed on the concrete 30 feet below when three young men kicked in the door of his third-story apartment on Oak Street.

Police say the hat in the released picture is the same as the one worn by one of the suspects at the Oak Street apartment where Greer jumped off his balcony.

The first video showed the men leaving the apartment building minutes after Greer made a 911 call. The second video focuses on one of the persons of interest.

So far, police are only certain that the men stole a container of coins, prompting Maj. Adam Lee to note that a petty theft had ended in a fatality.
