Henry County police called off the search Tuesday evening for a robbery suspect who crashed a vehicle filled with weapons and took off running.

The incident began in Butts County, where police attempted a routine traffic stop, Butts County Sheriff Gary Long told Channel 2 Action News. But the driver refused to stop the car, leading officers on a chase into Henry County, where the car wrecked on I-75, between exits 214 and 215, police said.

Investigators believethe three people inside the car may have been responsible for a home burglary, according to police. When the car crashed, two suspects were taken into custody. Their names were not released.

But a third suspect, identified as Randall Paul Ramos, ran from the scene. Police confiscated several weapons from the suspects’ car and believe Ramos could also be armed.

Nearby Bethlehem Elementary in Locust Grove was temporarily on lockdown Tuesday afternoon while investigators searched for Ramos, according to a spokesman for Henry County schools. The lockdown was later lifted and students were dismissed as normal.

The search was later called off for Ramos, police told Channel 2.
