An escaped convict and his friend were arrested just as they were making plans to catch a ride.

Jacare Ware escaped from the Atlanta Transitional Center on Feb. 4 and headed straight to Powder Springs to be with friend Kayla Nacole Clay, according to arrest warrants.

Ware had been in prison on gang charges out of Cobb County since February 2016, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Clay was charged with hindering after she refused to meet with authorities and instead helped Ware find transportation to leave the Powder Springs area, according to the warrants.

Clay and Ware remain in the Cobb County jail. Ware was scheduled to be released from prison in November.
