A 15-year-old in Paulding County will be charged as an adult after allegedly shooting and killing a fellow teenager, authorities said Friday.

Seth William Wyatt has been charged with murder in connection with the Feb. 2 death of 18-year-old Kaileb Chance Ellison in Hiram. Ellison was found with a gunshot to the head at a house in the 90 block of Calm Waters Avenue around 6:45 p.m., Paulding County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ashley Henson said in a statement.

Ellison, who was from Douglas County, was rushed to the hospital. He died Thursday as a result of his injuries, Henson confirmed.

Shortly after the shooting, Wyatt was located at the Harris Bridge Overlook Apartments in Dallas and arrested, Henson said. Detectives said they recovered the gun used in the shooting.

Wyatt is charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a pistol by a minor, altering a serial number on a firearm and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.

AJC.com publishes the names of juveniles only when they are charged as adults.

Wyatt is being held without bond at an undisclosed metro area youth detention center, Henson said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 443-3016.
