A Marietta man was killed Saturday afternoon while skydiving in Polk County, according to authorities. A second man was injured in the incident that began when the men bumped each other, according to the Polk County deputy coroner.

Donald Bragg, 26, died in the incident, while a second man was injured, deputy coroner Tony L. Brazier told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Brazier did not know the identity of the injured man.

Brazier said emergency officials received several frantic calls around 2 p.m. from witnesses at SkyDive the Farm in Cedartown. They told us “something had gone terribly wrong,” during a jump, Brazier said. He said something happened immediately after the men jumped, and they bumped each other, which may have knocked one man out, and caused their parachutes not to deploy properly.

Bragg fell into the woods about 500 yards from the Polk County Landfill on the west side of Grady Road. Brazier pronounced him dead at the scene.

The other man was found on an embankment in a wooded area on the opposite side of Grady Road, Brazier said. He was treated at the scene and taken to Floyd Medical Center.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will perform an autopsy on Bragg’s body in the next few days, Brazier said.
