The recent case cited in the board’s order involved a woman who was undergoing liposuction, breast augmentation and a Brazlilian Butt lift conducted by Davis-Boutte on May 30. She was later taken by ambulance to a hospital emergency room because of respiratory distress and bleeding from the liposuction incisions. She was found to have a collapsed lung and was suffering from anemia due to acute blood loss. As of yesterday, the patient was still in the hospital, according to the order.
Susan Witt, an attorney who has represented several women in malpractice lawsuits against Davis-Boutte, said it’s about time the board took action in what she described as an egregious case of malpractice that harmed scores of patients.
