All Michael Harvey wanted to do was make sure the passengers in the car he collided with were safe.
But what seemed like a good deed soon turned deadly when police say an Alabama couple fired a shot and killed him.
Demetrius Lamar Heade, 30, and Tilisha Lakelia Tate, 35, were charged with murder and aggravated assault in the Nov. 10 shooting. They were already wanted for murder in Alabama when the deadly shooting happened.
Authorities testified in court Wednesday that Tate admitted to police the events the night of the deadly shooting, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“She said the victim ran across the street like he was trying to check on them,” Gwinnett County police Cpl. John Cleland said at a hearing for Heade, “and as soon as he got (to) the driver’s side door, (Heade) leaned back and fired the gunshot.”
Tate reportedly told police she did not feel threatened by Harvey. The 39-year-old father of nine, had just left a bowling game with some of his children hours before the shooting, according to Channel 2 Action News.

After the deadly shooting, police say Heade and Tate ditched their stolen van and threw the gun used in the shooting in a nearby ditch, police said.
Tate was extradited back to Alabama after the shooting. Heade remained in jail without bond.
