All southbound lanes of I-75 in Cobb County have reopened following a truck wreck late Thursday morning that blocked most of the interstate for more than an hour.
The crash happened before 10 a.m. just before Wade Green Road in far northern Cobb County.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
Only the left lane of I-75 southbound was open until just after 11 a.m., when all lanes were cleared.
Officials with the Georgia Department of Transportation said that although the southbound lanes were open, alternate routes should be used until the six-mile backup that developed behind the wreck scene clears.
In another wreck in neighboring Cherokee County, a minivan was covered in trash after colliding with a garbage truck around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Union Hill Road and Cumming Highway.
Cherokee County fire officials told Channel 2 Action News that both drivers were taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee with non-life threatening injuries. A hazardous materials team was sent to the crash scene.
