The Alpharetta City Council has taken another step toward finishing out its City Center project that has transformed downtown.

Council members approved the sale of a half dozen city-owned commercial outparcels located within the development last week, which sits between Main Street and Haynes Bridge Road and includes a recently-opened city hall, parking garage and park. Two each of the land tracts are located along Main and Haynes Bridge, while the last two are in the interior.

The land was sold to MidCity Real Estate Partners for $6.6 million. MidCity plans to develop the nine acres into a mix of restaurant, retail, office space and for-rent residential. As part of the work, an old house that sits within the development will be renovated into a restaurant.

Assistant City Manager James Drinkard said MidCity wants to begin work on the acreage before the end of the year and complete the mixed-use development work within two years after that.
