The Stockbridge City Council voted at its Oct. 16 regular meeting to approve a rezoning request pertaining to three parcels on the north side of Valley Hill Road. The total land area is nearly 26 acres, previously zoned rural residential and neighborhood commercial.

The new zoning is single-family residential. The proposal was previously recommended for approval by city staff and the Planning Commission, but several residents spoke out against it during the public hearing.

The builder had amended the site plan to address concerns from residents and officials. The motion for approval that passed stipulated that the referenced concerns be rectified and documented.
