The Duluth Public Arts Commission will soon be seeking proposals from artists looking to design an art piece for Rogers Bridge Park. The arts commission is requesting the artist incorporate pieces of the old steel bridge in their artwork.

In an action approved by the Duluth City Council, the arts commission anticipates the artwork will cost approximately $125,000. Of that, the artist compensation would total $100,000 and $25,000 would be set aside for legal, engineering and installation. Funding will come from prior year reserves in the Duluth’s Public Art Fund.

The centuries-old Rogers Bridge was recently removed from its place across the Chattahoochee River to make way for a soon to be constructed pedestrian and bike bridge connecting Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth to Cauley Creek Park in Johns Creek.
