Some of the biggest names in social media will be in Atlanta through Saturday for the eighth annual Blogalicious Weekend.
The Blogalicious Weekend, one of the largest blogging conferences for women and will include bloggers, authors and social media influencers and strategists.
The eighth annual conference will be held through Saturday at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead, 3300 Peachtree Rd. N.E.
Among those attending are Luvvie Ajayi (of AwesomelyLuvvie blog fame), a speaker, activist, digital strategist and author of "I'm Judging You: The Do Better Manual"; Arsha Jones of BuildBrandSell.com. an emerging leader in the e-commerce industry; and Stacey Ferguson, co-founder and chief curator of Blogalicious, which works to bring more diversity among women in social media.
“Historically our voices have been suppressed and we haven’t been given access to the mainstream press,” said Ferguson. “Social media allows them to share their message with whomever wishes to listen, especially around such issues as this election, education and health.”
At the same time, social media allows women to create business and revenue streams. She said there are women at the conference who have written books, launched businesses and have series and videoblogs on YouTube.
Friday’s schedule includes a 4 p.m. session on Hashtag activism; and a 6 p.m. booksigning with Luvvie Ajayi.
Saturday’s events include a “Shark Tank”-style pitch contest for entrepreneurs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Unrelated, Ajayi will also discuss and sign copies of her new book from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Charis Books and More, 1189 Euclid Ave. N.E. It’s part of Charis’ 42nd birthday celebration.
