Q: I have one of those little pocket hoses for my small patio. I love it but it’s not as durable as a regular rubber hose. In fact, it’s downright delicate. Some time back, I thought I saw a commercial on television that featured a little container made for the pocket hose. I can’t seem to find anything like this. Is it still available? I hope you can help. Thank you. Meg Garcia, Sugar Hill
A: Yes, the Pocket Hose holder is still around. The small plastic bucket has a loop that hangs over your outdoor water faucet, so that you can keep the collapsible hose attached to the faucet, and safely enclosed when it's not in use. It comes with a lid, and is priced at $7.99. You'll find it at Bed Bath and Beyond, 1705 Mall of Georgia Blvd., Buford, 678-482-2315.
Q: H and F bakery makes the world’s best olive bread, which until recently I was able to buy at my local Whole Foods. Unfortunately, the store has stopped carrying H and F breads. Is there some place close to my area that carries these products? Thank you. Melissa Cox, East Cobb
A: Melissa, I spoke to someone at the H and F Bread Company who told me that the bread is currently not available at Whole Foods. I learned from the bakery manager at Whole Foods at Merchant's Walk that the store no longer uses H and F Bread Company as a vendor. What that means for you is that you'll have to pick up your favorite olive loaf at H and F Bread Company, 1500 Marietta Blvd., Atlanta, 404-350-8877. A loaf of olive bread, weighing in at just over one pound, costs $7.
Q: We moved to Georgia from Minnesota, and I cannot find any of the Nueske’s meat products. I have been frantically looking for apple wood smoked mild beef sticks or any Nueske product for that matter. Anything Nueske is fantastic! Thanks in advance! NHN, email
A: This is going to be one of those good news, bad news answers. You can get only a few Nueske's smoked meat products locally, but those applewood smoked beef sticks aren't included. However, New York Butcher Shoppe, 4969 Roswell Road, Atlanta, 404-303-0704 stocks the applewood smoked bacon for $12.99 per pound, and the shop can special order Nueske's spiral ham. Another local outlet for the smoked bacon is The Mercantile, 1660 DeKalb Ave., Atlanta, 404-378-0096. This charming grocer, wine shop and caterer sells Nueske's applewood smoked bacon for $11.99 per pound. As for those beef sticks, you can order two pounds for $39.95 directly through www.nueskes.com.
Q: Where can I find Ba-Tampte Deli Halves pickles? These are pickles that are refrigerated, not kept on the regular shelves. Thanks. B. Fisher, email
A: Ba-Tampte has been offering a variety of pickles and condiments from its New York-based processing plant since 1955. You'll find Deli Halves kosher dill pickles in 1-quart jars for $5.49 in the refrigerated kosher section of Kroger, 2205 Lavista Road, Atlanta, 404-633-8694.
