The Atlanta Journal-Constitution calendar is a self-service operation. To post your event:
1. Go to accessatlanta.com/getstarted and click on “register with us.” 2. Fill out the registration form. When you are done, you will be taken to the home page. 3. Click on “add a listing” in the upper right. Click on “find your event” to see if it is already in the system. If it is not, create your event, using the form provided. You will receive email notification when your event is approved. All approved events will be posted online at accessAtlanta.com. For print calendars, events are used at the discretion of the editors and as space allows.
Building dedication: Young Israel of Toco Hills will host a ceremony known as "Chanukat HaBayit" — dedication of the house — at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16. Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, professor of Jewish history and Jewish thought and senior scholar at the Center for the Jewish Future at Yeshiva University, will be the keynote speaker. Shine the light: Explore your crafty side, get ready for Christmas and join the women of Shallowford Presbyterian Church at Zone of Light Art Studio. Participants will meet in the church parking lot at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, for this offsite excursion in creative projects, which will include making festive earrings using colored cardstock paper and beads, decorative wrapping paper and customized gift cards. Works of art: The Work of Our Hands Artists' Market, which features over 70 local and regional artists offering fine art, folk art, and crafts, will return to the Cathedral of St. Philip on Thursday, Nov. 20, and run until Sunday, Nov. 23. Tickets for the opening night reception from 6 to 8 p.m. are available for $15 and include appetizers, wine and other beverages. Proceeds from the market benefit organizations that promote and support arts and crafts programs that serve people marginalized by socioeconomic, mental health and intellectual challenges. Christmas crafts: Clairmont Presbyterian Church will host "ADVENTure in Bethlehem," a celebratory and craft-filled event designed for children and families, at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Wendy Williamson, director of the children's ministry, said, "Visit Bethlehem as we recall the wondrous event that happened here long ago. Enjoy refreshments, music and give the gifts you make to someone who may need some Christmas joy." This event is free and open to the public.
