Hero, a 3-old neutered terrier mix, was relinquished by his owner and has been waiting several months for the right home. He is friendly and companionable, and enjoys affection from people he is comfortable with. According to his previous owner, Hero enjoyed playing fetch, and was partially crate-trained. He has been housebroken before, but he will definitely need a refresher course, and proper confinement until he “gets it.” He is a bit timid sometimes, and occasionally urinates submissively (this can be solved with patience and calm interactions, and is not related to housebreaking). Hero was exposed to children previously, but we don’t know how he will do with any in particular. He also enjoyed playing with dogs previously, but he seems to like ones his size and play style, not rambunctious puppies or annoying, large dogs. He would prefer daily walks to romping in the dog park, as far as we can tell. Hero might be a great companion for someone in a smaller living space, as he doesn’t need a lot of exercise, and/or someone with a quiet lifestyle who likes to take walks. Please bring all existing dogs and any kids to meet this sweet dog, and remember that all dogs need a period of time to settle into a new home. Hero has been microchipped and is current with vaccinations. He will need a rabies shot, which is included in the adoption fee. He will be available today at 2 p.m. at the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Sealed bids will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. if more than one party is interested. Please note that the highest bidder must meet adoption qualifications. Look at all our available pets at www.atlantahumane.org.
