"With the ground wet, the back wheels will just sit there and spin and you can't go anywhere," she told WFMY.

But Lagdon's job still expected her to show up for work. So, she decided to take a different ride into work -- a ride on her horse, Rascal.

"What better way to get to work than to ride my horse?" she said. "Get him out, get him some exercise and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way. You can't predict the weather. So you might as well just go with it."

Community members in Burlington, North Carolina didn't think Lagdon's approach was unorthodox. One woman even called it "normal."
