Q: Hi Ed: I'm having new stone counters installed with a kitchen sink. I would like a two-handle kitchen faucet. I also want to show off as much stone counter as I can. With all this in mind, is it possible to get a two-handle kitchen faucet that takes up less counter space?

A: Most two-handle kitchen faucets are deck-mounted and use three sink holes. (Remote sprays add another hole.)
Deck-mounted kitchen faucets have a base plate that covers the three sink holes. The faucet spout mounts in the middle of the base with hot and cold handles mounted on each side of the base plate as well.
If you want to free up more counter space, you can switch to a single-hole kitchen faucet. Single-hole kitchen faucets need only one hole in the counter or sink top.
With this setup, cleaning around the smaller faucet base can also be easier.
Here’s the good news: Single-hole two-handle kitchen faucets are available. These faucets look like a larger version of a bar sink faucet. The hot and cold lever handles are raised up and mount on each side of the special faucet body.
Bottom line: A two-handle single-hole faucet can be your all-in-one solution.
