A distillery named after a piece of Texas lore has plans as big as the state.

Although Yellow Rose Distilling started out as a small-batch Houston brand in 2010, that’s quickly changing as its three award-winning core whiskeys are being added to liquor store shelves statewide. Neighbors Troy Smith and Ryan Baird founded their distillery in 2010 after “frequent backyard discussions about their favorite whiskeys” turned into a full-fledged business plan, according to a press release.

Now, whiskey drinkers can enjoy the Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey, a 100-percent corn recipe with a sweet, full-flavored finish; the limited-release Straight Rye Whiskey with subtle pepper notes; and the Blended Whiskey, with a robust body that makes it ideal for spirit-forward cocktails. (Only the bourbon, for what it’s worth, has been completely distilled and aged at the 10,000 sq. ft. Houston production facility.)

Try each of them by themselves or in cocktails like these. Explore more recipes at yellowrosedistilling.com.
