Q: I hope that you can tell me where to find hickory salt. I like to add it to ground meat because it makes very tasty hamburgers, but I can't find it any more. I live in Peachtree City, but I'll go anywhere in the metro Atlanta area to buy it. Thanks. — Karen Hunt, e-mail
A: Karen, I've got a couple of options for you. Williams-Sonoma at Lenox Square mall stocks its own brand of hickory salt in 3.5-ounce packages and sells the savory seasoning for $7.95. However, I'm very familiar with a low-sodium product called J and D's. The company makes the Original Bacon Salt and a more potent hickory version. They come in 2-ounce shakers and sell for $3.79 at Kroger, 48 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan, 770-251-4791. ‎

Q: I'm looking for proscuitto not made with pork. Many thanks. — Gail Bates, e-mail
A: Proscuitto, a dried cured ham, is, obviously, a pork product. Since you didn't specify what you were looking for, I'll assume you want the dried cured beef version, which would be bresaola. You can buy bresaola for $21.75 per pound at Star Provisions, 1198 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, 404-365-0410. Star Provisions occasionally offers duck proscuitto as well.

Q: My grandfather talks about a syrup made of cola and it was used to help when you had a stomach ache. I'd like to find some to try and to show him. I think he'd get a kick out of it. Where can I get some? — Joey Schultz, Atlanta
A: Before it was a best-selling soft drink, cola was first sold as a medicinal tonic. I found Leader brand cola syrup in 4-ounce bottles for $3.89 at Little Five Points Pharmacy, 484 Moreland Ave.,  Atlanta, 404-524-4466.

Q: Way back in the '70s, we used a shampoo that smelled so wonderful and it was called Body on Tap. I would do anything to be able to find this shampoo again but haven't had any luck. I'd like to order it if possible and share it with my friends who also remember it but can't locate it. Help, please. — Heidi Johnson, Marietta
A: Heidi, you and your friends can, once again, bask in the fabulous scent that is Body on Tap shampoo made with barley and hops. Check out www.vermontcountrystore.com where you can order 12-ounce bottles for $14.95 or buy two or more bottles for $9.95 each. You also can order from Vermont Country Store by calling 802-776-5730.
