CURE Childhood Cancer

History: The nonprofit CURE Childhood Cancer was established in 1975 by the late Dr. Abdel Ragab, a pediatric oncologist who worked in Emory University's Department of Pediatrics and needed more funding for research into childhood cancers.

Did you know: CURE Childhood Cancer is one of the largest programs of its kind in the country. CURE successfully lobbied the Georgia General Assembly to pass a bill mandating that insurers support clinical trials for childhood cancer. Its motto: "Childhood cancer can be cured in our lifetime. We believe the research we fund today will lead to safer and more effective cures tomorrow."

How you can help: To assist families with their emotional and financial needs, volunteers can collect and assemble bags of stuffed animals, crafts and games for children. They also can provide hearty lunches and toiletry bags for family members making extended visits to the hospital. Financial contributions are welcome and provide support for cancer research and other programs.
