If you’re looking to learn a new skill while sheltering in place, an Atlanta area music store may be able to help.
Music Authority, in Cumming, is offering virtual music lessons for people of all skill levels.
Since temporarily closing its doors, the store has adapted with a variety of virtual offerings, from the virtual lessons to "curbside pickup in the case of broken strings, sticks, or other needs," according to the store's Facebook page.
The adjustments have allowed them to keep their teaching staff intact, co-owner Melissa Loggins told 11Alive.
“We have 28 instructors on staff. 26 of them are all teaching virtually now,” she told the TV station.
Loggins and her husband have owned the Forsyth County store since 2004.
While a lot of the virtual students had previously taken lessons at the store, Loggins said they have also had some new students sign up.
"We signed up a mom who started lessons this weekend on the mandolin because she's had a mandolin forever and said 'I never had time.' And we were like 'now is the time,' so she started lessons this weekend," Loggins told 11Alive.
“We all love music in some form or fashion. Knowing that we are a necessity without being a necessity, we're an essential business without actually being an essential business, is wonderful.”
More information on the lessons and ways to support the store can be found on their website.
