The ideologies of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X are widely believed to be on opposite ends of the spectrum: King touting nonviolence and Malcolm X advocating for a more radical approach to obtaining civil rights.
But is that how it really was?
An online discussion and presentation will analyze the speeches, lives and ideologies of these two men, and you can join in.
Sponsored by Melaneyes Media and Walk On The River, the presentation “will dissect audio, video, quotes and interviews to determine how similar or how different were the thoughts and opinions of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Brother Malcolm X, El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz,” the event’s Facebook page states. “We will compare and contrast their words, actions and some of the tactics of the movements they both represented.”
The sponsors say their presentation is not to cause division, but instead “to look at the lives of two brilliant men who provided a ton of valuable insight into the struggle.”
“Malcom X vs Martin Luther King: Online Presentation” will be 8 p.m. Sunday, January 10, on Zoom. After the presentation will be a live Q&A session with Aundar Ma’at and Born Logic Allah, the owners of Melaneyes Media.
The ticket price is on the honor system, meaning you pay what you think is fair. You can purchase your tickets online by clicking here. You will be emailed a link to the event.
