In 2009, interactive web designer Casey Pugh came up with an idea to re-create the first "Star Wars" movie using only submissions from people who love the films.
Each 15-second segment of the movie is acted out or illustrated by a fan.
And the force was strong with these fans.
"Star Wars Uncut has been featured in documentaries, news features, and conferences around the world for its unique appeal - we thank everyone for making it such a special project. StarWarsUncut.com won a 2010 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media - Fiction." Pugh says on his web page.
In honor of the second trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which came out Thursday, here is the fan-created Episode I.
With the success of his interactive project, Pugh decided to expand the uncut universe in 2012. The result is Empire Uncut. The segments switch seamlessly from live-action to illustration and back, following "The Empire Strikes Back" word for word.
Will there be a Return of the Jedi Uncut? Pugh says on this website that he isn't sure, but will keep subscribers to the site informed.
