This is one we didn’t see coming. Kanye West got in a Twitter war with ... of all people ... Jimmy Kimmel.
Here's why: a few days back, Kimmel aired a sketch in which two kids reenacted part of Kanye West's recent BBC Radio 1 interview.
“If I see something, if I see opportunity, I’m gonna go for it, know what I’m saying? We’re all gonna die one day.”

Thursday night Kanye started Tweeting about it...
Saying Kimmel was “out of line” for trying to spoof “the first piece of honest media in years” ...
Telling the host his “face looks crazy” ...
Noting he went to Jimmy’s family’s wedding, whatever that meant...
And saying Kimmel’s ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman is 1,000 times funnier than him...
There was more — he used foul language and hurled some insults we won’t show you here. Kimmel addressed the Tweets in his monologue live, as they were happening...
“He did come to my friend’s wedding, and he was very nice at the wedding.”
Oh, and also clarified — this is not another one of his Internet pranks a la that Twerking video. Kimmel said he’d just gotten off the phone with West.
"He said, 'I am the most powerful voice in media. I am Pac.' … I don't know why he's angry. The bit, I thought, was pretty innocuous -- but finally, I'm in a rap feud." http://www.youtube.com/user/JimmyKimmelLive?feature=watch(Via ABC)
The "rap feud" was quickly trending on Twitter and making headlines, like pretty much anything Kanye West does. (Via USA Today)
So, is this just another ‘crazy Kanye’ moment, spelled out in caps lock for the whole world to see?
Slate doesn't think so.
“ ... instead of trying to understand [Kanye’s interview], Kimmel does the opposite: He revels in his lack of comprehension ... I don’t understand these remarks, so clearly they are the nonsense talk of a small child.”
But Entertainment Weekly writes off Kanye's Tweets completely, calling him a "buffoon."
Ultimately, whoever comes out on top in the public's opinion here will probably be based not on what is said, but how it's said — aka, who can take a joke.
Says SPIN...
“[West] is ... correct that America benefits from his lack of filter. But with all of that having been said, Kanye West used to have a sense of humor.”
For now, all is quiet on the Twitter front.
