“Using What Works: Bringing Effective Caregiver Programs to Your Community” will be the focus of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving’s 2011 annual summit and training institute at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. “Moving Forward to Positive Outcomes,” the annual educational conference of the Atlanta chapter of the Case Management Society of America, will be at the Georgia International Convention Center (2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park). The conference hours are noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 14, and 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 15. The keynote speaker will be CMSA national president Teri Treiger. The cost is $160 for members (nonmembers, $215). Single-day rates for members are $59 (nonmembers, $89) for the first day, and $99 (nonmembers, $129) for the second day. Group rates (five or more attendees registering with one check) are $125 for both days and $89 for the second day only. The cost for same-day registration is $125 for the first day, $175 for the second and $299 for both days. Ten continuing education credits will be applied for. “Influencing the Future of Nursing — Success Strategies You Can Use,” the 2011 Georgia Nurses Association Professional Development Conference, will be at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest. Participants can earn a maximum of 12.25 CNE contact hours. The cost for GNA members is $289 (through Oct. 10) and $299 (onsite registration). “Emory Diabetes Educator Certificate Course at Grady” will be at the Emory Faculty Office Building (49 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive in Atlanta). This seminar is open to nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers and others interested in the management and education of people with diabetes. Professionals preparing to take the Certified Diabetes Educator exam will find the course helpful. Time is allocated for observations in the clinical setting with members of the health care team of your choice. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants per session. Attendees must have a degree or diploma in a health profession. The course is also open to students preparing to take their licensure examination. The cost, which includes materials, is $375.
