A KFC customer's claim that he was served a deep-fried rat instead of a chicken tender quickly went viral on social media.

Devorise Dixon says when he was eating his food, he noticed that one of the chicken pieces had a tail and was shaped like a rat. He described the texture as "hard and rubbery."

"It was very nasty," Dixon told a Los Angeles radio station. "I spit it out. I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rat with a tail and everything in it."

Dixon posted images of the questionable piece to Facebook and returned his unwanted order to the restaurant. He says the manager "freaked out," apologized and confirmed that it was a rat, even offering him a free meal.

He hired a lawyer instead.

A KFC spokesperson says the company immediately launched an investigation and found no evidence to support Dixon's claim. KFC told the Huffington Post that Dixon is misleading the public and that the chicken tender is just "oddly shaped."

The fast-food chain says Dixon refuses to cooperate with its investigation and the company has concluded that the allegation is a hoax.
