Should the calendar play a part in your job search? According to Atlanta hiring managers, the answer is "yes."

The new year still ranks high as a good time to look for work, according to Chan Cheatham, talent acquisition services manager for Corporate Payroll Services.
"It's the time of year when everyone is focused on starting over and getting new employees in," she said. "The key decision members at most companies have also come in and decided the plan for the year in January and into February, so that's a good time to start fresh."
Cheatham notes that some industries have their own boom months that makes a certain time of year great to apply.

She also favors early September to early November job searches in the Atlanta area, because most college grads from the year before have landed jobs and won't be competing as heavily.

Kathy Malkowski, senior corporate recruiter for LocumTenens.com, a job board site for health professionals, acknowledges the start of the year as a great time to look for work, but says there isn't a lock on timing for job seekers.
"There may not be a best time of year anymore to look for a job as the job market has been expanding here in the Atlanta area and also within our industry," she said. "
She advises placing more emphasis on a steady, consistent approach to the job search than the time of year if you are a more experienced candidate. "That's the most important aspect of job seeking success for upper level employment," she said.
