Casting directors will tell you not to take it personally if you are not chosen as an extra for film, TV, print ads and commercials. But if you're looking for a bit more insight, here's why you might not have been casted.
You don't fit the bill.
Many times casting directors are seeking a certain look, age and energy. While your audition might have been flawless, you simply may not be what the director had in mind for a particular role.
You've developed a poor reputation.
Nuisances aren't hired back. If you're rude or needy while on set, directors will take this under consideration when casting you for future projects.
You weren't selective.
Those applying to be extras also need to be choosy. Would you be comfortable performing in the project for which you are applying? If not, do not apply and wait for another opportunity.
You had a bad audition.
Being late, unprepared or cynical are all common mistakes people make when auditioning, so put your best foot forward when going out for a role.
They want your car instead.
Casting directors often want you to submit three new pictures against a plain background and a resume. They also want your sizes and sometimes a description of your car. While you may not be cast, maybe your car will be chosen - also with payment.
