Delta Air Lines said its elite Red Coat customer service agents went through a special two-day workshop in advance of the busy summer season and the inevitable travel disruptions it brings.

The more than 1,300 Red Coat agents and their supervisors learned "real-world conflict resolution skills" and were trained on technology to re-accommodate customers when flight operations go awry, according to Atlanta-based Delta.

Red Coat agents can be spotted at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and nearly 100 other airports where Delta operates by the distinctive color of the jackets they wear.

Delta is also adding hundreds of seasonal workers as customer service agents at its hubs and at reservations centers, as it typically does for the summer travel season.
