Coca-Cola Co. is rolling out a half-dozen new electric trucks in Los Angeles, San Francisco, D.C. and New York as part of its plans to use fuel more efficiently.

Coca-Cola Refreshments, a division focused on bottling, sales and distribution, says it has more heavy-duty hybrid trucks on the road in North America than any other fleet. The company also operates more than 650 hybrid medium-duty trucks as part of its alternative fuel fleet. It is training drivers in "eco-driving techniques" such as braking and throttling to reduce fuel consumption.

Coca-Cola Refreshments is a charter partner of the National Clean Fleets Partnership Program, a public-private partnership that helps large companies reduce diesel and gasoline use in their fleets. "Coca-Cola Refreshments is committed to investing in alternative fuel vehicles and innovative fleet technologies," said Steven Saltzgiver, director of fleet operations.
