Donna Brazile, a long-time CNN analyst, officially parted ways with the network on October 14 after hacked e-mails showed she had passed on questions to Hillary Clinton's campaign for CNN-sponsored events.

She has been a CNN political analyst for many years before leaving temporarily to be interim chair of the Democratic National Committee.

"We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor," said Lauren Pratapas, a network spokeswoman, according to the New York Times.

"From time to time I get the questions in advance," Ms. Brazile wrote in the subject line of an email to Jennifer Palmieri, the candidate's communications director.

The Times provided two examples of questions from audience members that Clinton was able to anticipate.

Brazile worked for several Democratic presidential campaigns, including Jesse Jackson in 1984 and Richard Gephardt in 1988.

Donald Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, the Times says, remains an informal, if unpaid, advisor with the network.  In an interview my colleague Matt Kempner and I with CNN president Jeff Zucker last week, he expressed no regrets using Lewandowski. He was a hire that received criticism both inside and outside the network, especially since it was later discovered that he was being paid for a time by Trump while working with CNN.
