Every now and then, I thank the late Elie Wiesel for teaching us the hard lesson that oppression and discrimination don't necessarily bestow virtue, or wisdom, on their victims.
This is one of those times. This week, Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan, a Republican and the only Muslim in the Sixth District congressional race, posted the following on his campaign Facebook page (we've made minor corrections in spelling):
Some of you said that you wanted to send a message to Washington. Don't you think that you can send the biggest message to Washington by sending a Brown, South Asian and a Muslim American Congressman? Just think of the magnitude of the impact that you can have. This will give hope and strength to all of us.
I am not afriad of standing up to anyone.
As you know, Jon Ossoff (an Orthodox Jew) has already accepted millions from special interest groups and will be under the control of Jared Kushner (Trump's Son-in-Law) and in turn under the control of Donald Trump.

Bhuiyan's Facebook post was stacked on top of a bit of video from last week's Atlanta Press Club debate, at which he was asked whether he had actively denounced past acts of terrorism committed by members of his faith. Bhuiyan was offended, and he has a point. But two wrongs....
