Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is returning to Georgia on Sunday to deliver a sermon at Rock Springs Church, the megachurch that has already drawn two other presidential contenders.
Carson, whose support has steadily evaporated since he briefly led polls in Iowa last year, will visit the sprawling Milner church at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday - two days before Georgians head to the polls. The church is pastored by the Rev. Benny Tate, the influential preacher who is close to Sen. David Perdue.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has since dropped out of the race, both visited the sprawling Milner megachurch - on the same balmy Sunday in July. Both railed against the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage ruling and competed for evangelical voters.
Carson, meanwhile, is languishing at the bottom of the pack in Georgia polls. A WSB-TV poll released this week showed him at 8 percent - in a virtual tie for last place with Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
