The Clayton County Board of Education is ending 2014 on a good note, earning notable recognition from the Georgia School Boards Association.

The school board met and or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to become a 2014 Distinguished Board.

The recognition program showcases best practices in school governance and leadership, a particularly hard-won feat for Clayton which has worked diligently to regain its stature after losing its accreditation in 2008. It regained accreditation in May 2011.

“This is a great honor,” said Dr. Pam Adamson, CCBOE Chair. “The work that is required of a board to earn distinction through the GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program is substantial and requires a dedicated focus to quality leadership. I commend each member of the Board for their commitment to this process.”

Clayton has 53,400 students and is the fifth largest school district in Georgia and ranked among the 100 largest school districts in America.
